Sometimes the most valuable thing you can do is step away from the hustle of daily work. The constant flow of tasks demanding your attention right now, just this minute keep you from having the chance to step away and consider the big picture.
For a lot of us, the Tech Forum in Burlington was just that opportunity, a chance to hear some inspiring content and look at where we are and where we are heading. None of the sessions stand out as the most memorable part of the conversation, for me, it is the conversation between presentations that stay in my mind.
In particular, the conversation always seemed to center on: how do we get this back to the classroom? There isn’t an easy answer but one theme kept reoccurring both in sessions and conversation: time. We’ve all had those moments when we were inspired by a speaker and walked away saying “This will change everything.” only to get back to the classroom and have the reality of day to day life smack you in the face.
I walked away from the Tech Forum thinking: for us to make any of these changes, we need to start by stepping away, and figuring out how we can all find the time to use these incredible tools to let us provide the best education possible for our students.
